CICDC Course on Selected Issues in the Regulation of Fintech

November 20 to November 24, 2023

The CICDC presented a course on Selected Issues in the Regulation of Fintech (SIFR) in Shenzhen Training Center, from November 20 to November 24, 2023. The course was delivered by staff from the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) onsite. 41 Chinese participants from the National Financial Regulatory Administration and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, as well as 13 participants from relevant governmental agencies of Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyz Republic, Laos, and Nepal attended the course. The course focuses on global developments in the regulation of fintech, the implications of BigTech in financial services, policy implications of a technology neutral approach to regulation, the growth of Supervisory Technology (SupTech) and the need for public-private collaboration in Regulatory Technology (RegTech). It also includes practical case studies on the regulation of financial technology and self-assessment exercises on key aspects of digital money, providing participants with the opportunity to put learnings into practice through group discussions and presentations.

During the course, the IMF counselors and participants visited WeBank, Hytera Communication Company and Kingdee International Software Group. The course received high praise from the participants.
