CICDC Course on Macroeconomic Diagnostics

June 17 to 28, 2024

From June 17 to 28, 2024, the course on Macroeconomic Diagnostics, jointly organized with the National Bureau of Statistics, took place in Dalian. 36 participants from China, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan participated in the training.

This course is presented by the IMF Institute for Capacity Development and delivered by Mr. Alex Ho, Ms. Laura Kodres, and Mr. Werner Schule. The course is designed to strengthen participants’ ability to comprehensively assess a country’s macroeconomic situation, including the current state of the economy; the stance of fiscal and monetary policy; financial stability; exchange rate misalignments; vulnerabilities in the different sectors; and the medium-term outlook, especially the sustainability of public and external debt. It emphasized practical tools for use in day-to-day macroeconomic analysis. And it relied on a case study on the regional developments and economic and political environment of Indonesia to illustrate how these tools are applied and how they can contribute to the policymaking process. The course was well received by the participants.
