CICDC Course on Exchange Rate Policy
August 18 to 29, 2025
From August 18 to 29, 2025, the course on Exchange Rate Policy (ERP), jointly organized by the CICDC and General Administration of Customs took place in Dalian. The course welcomed 32 participants from China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia.
This course was delivered by the team consisting of Mr. Victor Pontines (Mission Chief), Mr. Marco Terrones and Mr. Rodrigo Cubero from the IMF Institute for Capacity Development (ICD). The main topics included key exchange rate concepts, exchange rate policy and regimes, practical problems in developing and emerging market economies and transitions from rigid to flexible exchange rates regimes to help participants gauge reserves and external balance, build early-warning models, and tailored regime choice to country traits.
During the workshop, experts and participants visited General Administration of Customs Dalian Office on a field trip, during which they learned about the recent development and practice of exchange rate policy in China. The course was highly rated by the participants.
