CICDC Course on Macroeconomic Management in Resource-Rich Countries

From August 25 to September 2, 2025, CICDC and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) jointly hosted a course on Macroeconomic Management in Resource-Rich Countries in Dalian, China. The program welcomed 27 participants from across China, with Mr. Shuai CHEN, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation at NDRC, attending the opening session.
This course, led by Mr. Khaled Abdel-Kader from the IMF Institute for Capacity Development (ICD), Mr. Tibor Hledik from the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI), and Mr. Lahcen Achy, a consultant with the IMF, explores the unique macroeconomic policy challenges faced by resource-rich countries. Participants gained in-depth knowledge on a range of topics, including the macroeconomics of growth and diversification, fiscal policy management, macroeconomic policy coordination, and public-sector asset management tailored to resource-rich environments. During the course, an experienced NDRC researcher delivered a distinguished lecture on the theme “Actively and Steadily Promote the Green and Low-Carbon Transformation of Energy”.
