CICDC Course on Financial Markets and Instruments
September 15-19, 2025
From September 15 to 19, 2025, the course on Financial Markets and Instruments (FMI) took place in Dalian in collaboration with the Chinese Securities Regulation Committee (CSRC). 18 participants from Chinese agencies including the CSRC, People's Bank of China, National Financial Regulatory Administration, Shanghai Futures Exchange, and 6 participants from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and Uzbekistan, participated in the training.
This course was delivered by Mr. Fabian Lipinsky (Mission Chief), Mr. Bertrand Candelon and Ms. Meijun Qian from the Institute for Capacity Development. This course provided participants with a solid foundation in financial instruments, extending beyond the standard treatment of bonds and equity covered in the FMAx course. The curriculum included forwards, futures, swaps, and options, with practical applications and policy implications related to financial market regulation. The course also emphasized the misuse of financial instruments, which could lead to significant losses and financial instability.
Participants engaged in lectures, workshops, and case studies, culminating in final presentations on current financial market issues. The course drew high praise for its variety.
