CICDC Course on Bank Restructuring and Resolution

From October 27 to 31, 2025, 49 officials from China (including from Hong Kong SAR), Nigeria, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Vietnam, Egypt, Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mauritania, participated in the course on Bank Restructuring and Resolution in Shenzhen.

This course was presented by the IMF Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) and delivered by Tracy Richardson, Yesim Aydin, and Jan Nolte. The course provided a comprehensive overview of conceptual and operational issues related to the restructuring and resolution of weak and failing banks. Through the one-week course, including lectures and group exercises, the participants gained further knowledge on a range of topics, including the identification and supervision of weak banks, operational preparedness on resolution matters, crisis containment, bank restructuring and resolution, and dealing with distressed assets.
